You can find your type and read your free chart without giving us anything. Your birthday lives in the address of your result page and in your own browser. Until you give us an email or make an account, there is no copy of it on our server.
When you give us your email
If you type your email to keep your card, or to hear when a friend answers your link, we keep three things: the email, the birthday of that card, and its type. We keep them as soon as you press Send, even if you never open the mail.
We use them to send you the link you asked for. If you open it, we also send a short series of notes about your chart, a few of which mention what BAAK sells. Every one of them has an unsubscribe link that works in one tap.
When you make an account
An account is your email and nothing else to remember: no password. On it we keep the charts you save, the people you add to your roster, and what you have bought, so they open on any device you sign in on.
Names and birthdays you add for other people are only used to read them for you. We never email them, never sell them, and never use them for advertising.
Payments
Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see your card number. Stripe tells us your email and what you bought, and that is what we keep.
Advertising
We may share the emails of people who gave us one with advertising platforms such as Meta, so we can show BAAK to people like them, or stop showing it to people who already have it. They are sent scrambled (hashed), the platform uses them only to match accounts it already has, and it does not keep the ones it cannot match. Your roster is never part of this. To be left out, email us and we will remove you.
The site also uses Meta’s pixel, which sets a cookie and tells Meta when someone views a page, finds their type, starts a checkout or buys, so our ads reach people likely to want BAAK and we can see which ads work. A purchase is sent with the buyer’s email, hashed. Blocking third-party cookies or using a tracker blocker turns the browser part off; the checkout and purchase are still reported from our server, with the browser’s IP address and type, so Stripe holds those with the order. If you arrived through an affiliate’s link, a cookie remembers their code for 60 days so they are paid for the sale; it says nothing about you.
How the site is measured
We count page views and button presses against a random id made in your browser, to see which pages work. When somebody opens a shared card, we store a scrambled, shortened form of their network address, which cannot be turned back into the address, so one person opening a link in five tabs does not count as five.
Who else handles it
Vercel hosts the site, Supabase stores the data above, Stripe takes payments, and Resend sends our mail. Each of them only processes it to do that job for us.
Getting it deleted
You can delete saved charts and people from your account page at any time. To delete everything, including your email and what we know you bought, email hello@baak.you from the address it is about and we will do it. We keep a record of payments where the law requires it.
If you clear this browser without an account, anything that lived only in it is gone. That is the trade for not asking you to sign up.
